KPA upholds the dismissal of Durrës prosecutor Ilir Turja

The Special Appeals Chamber, KPA, decided on Wednesday, January 29, to uphold the dismissal of Durrës prosecutor Ilir Turja. The decision was taken unanimously by the KPA panel headed by Albana Shtylla, with rapporteur Natasha Mulajn and members Ina Rama, Mimoza Tasi and Rezarta Schuetz, after reviewing in the consulting room the appeal filed by Turja.

The Independent Qualification Commission dismissed prosecutor Ilir Turja from office on November 7, 2022 after concluding that he had hidden a villa in the beach area in the name of his parents in order to avoid control of the legality of the sources of creation; that he had lacked financial resources for several years and had made an incorrect and insufficient declaration of assets. He received a positive assessment for his clean image and professionalism.

Ilir Turja began his career in the justice system in 1995 and worked for more than two decades as a prosecutor in the Durrës Judicial District Prosecutor's Office.
