SPAK reacts to the termination of American funds: We are an independent

The Special Prosecution Office has commented on the Trump administration's decision to cut off funding for Albania, including grants for the country's justice system.

In response, SPAK says that they were informed about this order yesterday and adds that they are an independent institution, which is supported by the state budget.

"We have been informed of the Executive Order of the United States Government to stop the implementation of international assistance programs. SPAK is an independent institution, which relies entirely on the state budget. Law 115 of 2024 "On the Management of the Budgetary System of the Republic of Albania" also provides for the approved budget for the Special Structure against Corruption and Organized Crime for 2025," SPAK said in a reaction to "A2".

The United States has suspended all aid to Albania for a period of 90 days, following Donald Trump's Executive Order regarding aid to foreign countries.

US funds will be suspended until a second decision is made, after the Trump administration has assessed the effectiveness and "conformity with United States foreign policy."
