Cocaine and Egert Vargu

The court of Durrës has given today the security measures for the citizens Arben Ferizi and Egert Vargu. Judge Vladimir Skënderi has imposed the measure "indefinite arrest" for the citizen Arben Ferizi and "indefinite detention" for 18 days for the citizen Egert Vargu. 

They were arrested three days ago. Ferizi is the administrator of the company that had ordered chickens from Brazil and 45 kg of cocaine were found in the container, while Vargu is a customs agent, as well as a member of the Tirana Municipal Council.

Both detainees have denied having any knowledge or connection to drug trafficking. Before the investigators, Vargu denied having anything to do with cocaine and stated that he is an independent customs agent and that he works with his wife.

"It's not my job. "My job is to deal with the documentation",  he is used to saying.

The same line was followed by the administrator of the company, Arben Ferizi, who stated:  “We have nothing to do with drugs. The company has ordered chicken and all the actions we do online. We order online and we do not know what is in the container. The company has been producing sausages for years and is very successful. There is no need to be implicated in drug trafficking. We as a company have no connection, I am not aware of the presence of narcotics in the container ".

The amount of 45 kg of cocaine was seized on Wednesday evening in the port of Durrës, in the container with chicken ordered by a meat processing company based in Kosovo, on behalf of a branch in Northern Macedonia. The drugs are thought to have had two customers, because the packages (40) were separate, with different images, but with the protagonist of the animated film "Goku" and "Buddha".
