Today's court session (June 19) where the defense lawyers of the defendants for the Fier incinerator file would present their conclusions turned into a procedural debate.

The former socialist deputy, Alqi Blako, who at the time he is accused by the prosecution held the position of general secretary in the Ministry of Environment, made strong accusations against the Special Prosecutor's Office.

The latter, last session, decided to request the change of the charge by bringing back the initial charge of "abuse of duty" as a high state functionary and not as a public functionary.

Blako said that the return to the initial charges by prosecutor Dritan Prençi, ignoring the decision of the preliminary judge, shows that his attack was orchestrated within a specific agenda.

Alqi Blako claims that he was not a high-ranking public official, but a high-ranking civil official, as he warned that he will appeal the found violations to the KLP and to Strasbourg.

"The violation of the law is so blatant that I don't know if it has to do with professional ignorance or a personal vendetta. Only SPAK can accuse me of a duty that was not my duty. Open extra-legal standard, advancing an agenda of personal vendetta against to my person", said Blako in the session.

In the session last June 12, 2023, the Special Prosecutor's Office presented the claim. For the former Minister of the Environment, Lefter Koka requested a sentence of 10 years in prison. Due to the acceptance of the summary judgment, the prosecution ultimately requests that he be sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison.

For the former socialist deputy, Alqi Blako, 7 years were requested, due to the acceptance of a shortened trial, the prosecution finally requested a sentence of 4 years and 8 months.
