12 people have been arrested so far in connection with the murder of Portuguese tourist, Luis Miguel Varela Mendes, by 29-year-old Sokrat Vata in Ksamil.

In addition to the perpetrator and other individuals, officer Moisid Matushaj, 24 years old, resident of Gjirokastra and assistant specialist of Criminal Investigation at the Gjirokastra Local Border Directorate, was also arrested.

However, sources indicate that a prison employee has also been arrested.

The arrested person is Luçiano Seferi, a basic role employee at the Fier prison.

Some of them have been arrested for failing to report a crime, after the Portuguese tourist was killed hours before the police were notified.
