JALE

Tourism in Albania this year seems to be facing problems. Some blame the salty prices on the economic crisis, some blame it on the lack of tourists from Eastern Europe.

One of the pearls of the south, the coast of Jala this tourist season looks emptier than ever before. The journalist from Vlora, Enrik Mehmeti, has published photos from the beach, which looks almost deserted.

Mehmeti says that even though the price of the umbrellas with two sunbeds was reduced to 700 new lek, they were still empty, while he says that the strategy for the coming years should be changed.

"These photos were taken in Jal just a day ago where the prices of umbrellas were reduced to only 700 lek new with two sunbeds. Have you ever seen one of the most beautiful beaches in Albania so deserted? Likewise, in Himarë or Saranda, the same scene with empty beaches is presented. The fight and the prizes do their job, but the expectations should not have been like last year and the year before for several reasons. Last year, unlike many other countries that were closed due to the pandemic, Albania was open both to Albanians and to many Balkan countries and beyond. This led to a huge influx of tourists from these countries, turning Albania into a major tourist destination for two years.

The opening of other countries made many Albanians, Balkans and so on, go to those countries that they could not go during the pandemic. Undoubtedly, the prices have their influence as a result of the war and the increase of every product, but I have never heard of prices in the amount of 250 euros. In the last few days, they have suggested rooms for 40,50 or 60 euros in Lungomare or Radhimë in very high-quality hotels, but I did not see that 250 in this period anywhere (Even Marina Bay, which is among the most luxurious, does not have that much at this time) .

Anyway, after July 15, I think that there will be a large number of tourists, as well as mainly Italians, who, according to information from travel companies, will continue until mid-September. What should be done is the fact that this year should be a lesson for the years to come, in order to build strategies and attractions so that the tourists of June or July choose the southern areas" , writes the journalist.
