A few days ago a statue of Jesus was placed in the picturesque mountains of Nikaj Mertur in Tropoja, an area proud of the Catholic faith preserved over the centuries.

Footage circulating on social media showed the statue photographed only from behind, and the debate often shifted to the statue's design, similar to Rio's Christ in Brazil.

But there seems to be a reason why the views from the front of this statue have been spared the public, and this is not because of the balcony with stairs, glass and "duralumin" where the statue was installed.

It is apparently due to the poor quality of the workmanship, causing many to ask, why do we Albanians produce so many ugly statues? It is worth remembering that this is not the first case when citizens revolt with the poor quality of the sculptures, which often not even our national hero Gjergj Kastrioti, known as Skanderbeg, has escaped.
