He set fire to his land, but the flames spread near the houses/ The 46-year-old

A 46-year-old man has been arrested in flagrante delicto by the Shijak Police, after allegedly setting fire to his land and the flames spreading to several plots near homes in the village of Rreth.

The incident was discovered yesterday afternoon, following reports of a fire that had engulfed several areas of land in the area.

The Shijak Police Commissariat services immediately went to the scene and launched investigative actions to determine the cause of the fire.

Preliminary investigations revealed that citizen EM, a resident of the village of Rreth, had set fire to his land.

Due to the spread of the flames, the fire then engulfed other land areas divided into plots, which were located near the village houses. Following the procedural actions, the Crime Investigation specialists at the Shijak Police Station arrested the 46-year-old man in flagrante delicto, who is accused of the criminal offense of "Destruction of property by fire".

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Durrës for further action.

Durrës Police have appealed to citizens to show maximum caution and avoid any action that could cause fires, especially near homes and planted areas.

The police call on citizens to report any case of arson or illegality to 112, guaranteeing immediate response.
