Involved in the illegal transportation of immigrants, a 22-year-old Albanian man

A 22-year-old Albanian man has been arrested as part of a National Crime Agency investigation into organised immigration crime in Britain.

British media report that the Albanian was taken from an immigration detention center near Gatwick Airport and interviewed by NCA officers on suspicion of assisting illegal immigration.

He is suspected of being involved in facilitating the transfer of migrants from Albania to the United Kingdom via small boats and heavy vehicles.

“This arrest has been made as part of an ongoing investigation into the highly dangerous people smuggling journeys using small boats and heavy equipment across the Channel. The NCA will leave no stone unturned – at every step of the people smuggling route – in our work to tackle the perpetrators of organised immigration crime,”  said NCA Branch Commander Sara-Jayne Moore.
