The village of Gryksh i Madh in Peqin has been plunged into mourning following the tragedy of the Kola family in Italy, whose 4 members died after carbon monoxide poisoning while in their apartment.

Relatives and neighbors say that the family had been emigrating to Italy for about three years, while previously they had been in Greece for seasonal work.

"This is the bill of immigration," they say, emphasizing the countless sacrifices and difficult journey away from their homeland.

According to them, the memories are still fresh. They had met for New Year's Eve, shared greetings, smiles, and hopes for the future. Today, those memories have turned into wounds.

The Kola family is described as a regular, hardworking, and wonderful family. They recounted that Arti Kola, the head of the family, was an orphan and had lost his father at a very young age.
