The Kukës Prosecutor's Office has requested the completion of the expertise of additional factors of gunpowder on clothes and hands for the six clandestines from the Middle East who were arrested on May 26 after the armed attack on the police on the border line between Albania and Kosovo.
The temporary measure in the court of Kukës was requested precisely because of the performance of the expertise that was deemed necessary by the investigation group which, until this stage, has not managed to find the weapons used in the event or other evidence that can determine authorship of the event.
In their absence, the main suspicions are that the author of the shooting is the 27-year-old Sultan Grimashi, from Algeria, who managed to escape the police chase and was declared wanted.
For the investigation group, this person is suspected as the organizer of the clandestine crossing from Albania to Kosovo, with the final destination being the EU countries. Grimashi, who himself entered Albania as an illegal immigrant, according to the investigators, has learned the language but also knows well the border terrain where the illegal crossing of clandestines takes place during the night hours.
In the testimonies given by the clandestines arrested after the armed attack on the police, they revealed that the line of illegal crossing started from the countries of origin, in Turkey, Greece and then in Albania to continue in Kosovo through the border point of Morin .
To arrive in Germany, the final payment is about 5 thousand euros, even some of the clandestines, who had spent the money on the way to Albania and during their stay here, had asked to return to Greece where they were employed as cleaners in order to accumulate savings for afford the fees demanded by the traffickers. The clandestines have also shown the moment of the attack on the police.
They said that they were a group of 7 people, where we had arrived in Kukës during the day, then they waited for darkness to head towards the valley to the green border.
"The moment the police discovered us and called us to stop, we raised our hands and were going to surrender, but he put a gun to our heads and asked us to lie down," said one of the clandestines.
