Arben Grori has been appealing to the country's courts for 8 years to remove his sentence of life imprisonment.
Arben Grori was put under several charges by Italian justice, never by Albanian justice, in addition to the life sentence from Italy, at that time there was also an accusation of drug trafficking and participation in a criminal organization where he was sentenced to another 15 years in prison additional, in addition to the life sentence he had for the murder of Naim Zyberi in August 1997.
Grori, now 51 years old, wants to review the sentencing decisions for him since all those decisions came from the courts of Italy and that in our country he has no charges or decisions against him.
The first request was registered in 2014 and, since that day, he is one of the most talked-about names of the crime seeking to review the decision of the foreign sentences he has committed outside Albania. A few weeks ago, Grori addressed the Criminal Court of Tirana with a request for a review of the foreign sentences he committed outside Albania. Because Grori's defense lawyers did not appear, the request was deemed inadmissible by the court and dismissed, but he has appealed this decision.
Some time ago, a retrial of his case was decided in the Court of Tirana, but the process was stalled because he repeatedly requested the change of the judicial body, and as a result, the opportunity to examine his request and filed since 2014 for the removal of life imprisonment.
Among other things, in order to realize the benefit, Grori has often turned to doctors, who over the years have treated the assassin of Naim Zyberi, but again our courts have not taken it into account, although in fact about 3 years ago the friend and friend of his, Gerd Gjinarari, who was said to have shot Naim Zyberi with 5 bullets in the Milan hospital, to take revenge for the murder of Grori's brother, was able to win his freedom, after the Court decided to remove the life imprisonment, being based mainly on his good behavior.
Gjinarari, after reducing the sentence to 25 years in prison, was able to gain freedom and leave the cell, while he had the same charges as his friend, Arben Grori.
The Italian police would be shocked by an assassination attempt that occurred in a hospital room in which a gunshot wound transferred from Turin Hospital was admitted. Due to the high level of threat to the life of the foreigner who survived the ambush, they put two police officers on 24-hour duty at the door of the Hospital in Milan. However, three Albanians appeared one evening at the door of the Albanian's room and asked to meet him. Together were Arben Grori, Gerd Gjinarari and another person who was never identified. They had a bunch of flowers in their hands, inside which they had hidden a pistol with a silencer.
But despite his friend who attended that event in the hospital in Milan, who won his freedom, Grori looks like he will have to continue the battle again to change his life sentence. Earlier, a retrial was attempted, as well as the granting of reduced days of the sentence according to the law due to good behavior, but the ILD immediately intervened, punishing the magistrate who had taken that decision. He has been behind bars for more than two decades, but only for the sentence that came from Italy and for no case in his country.
