Accused of drug trafficking from Latin America to Europe, GJKKO leaves Erzen

The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime has decided to leave in force the security measure "prison arrest" for Erzen Breçani's son, Eralbi Breçani.

According to the official announcement, the monocratic panel reviewed criminal case no. 27, registered on July 3, 2026, on the appeal filed by Breçani against decision no. 43, dated 15.06.2026, of the Special Court of First Instance.

After reviewing the request, the Special Court of Appeal decided to approve the decision of the First Instance and continue the implementation of the security measure "Arrest in prison", provided for by Article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

In the SPAK file, Eralbi Breçani is suspected of having initiated trafficking activities and that on at least two occasions he carried out this activity in collaboration with other persons.

SPAK's investigations have also raised suspicions regarding several communication groups on messaging applications, where Ervin Mata, Breçani's brother-in-law, is also a participant.

According to the prosecution, there are suspicions that these communications may have been used for purposes related to the commission of criminal offenses.
