A well-known gang of Albanians in Athens is thought to be hiding behind the murder of 37-year-old Albanian Pëllumb Islami. The victim has nothing to do with the incident, but was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Protothema newspaper has dedicated a long article to this group called "Group L", which according to Protothema controls brothels and drug distribution in the center of Athens.

The serious crime happened on Tuesday evening in a bar in the "Nea Ionia" neighborhood in the Greek capital.

There was also the infamous gang of Albanians, as considered by the Greek media, between whom a fight started that then degraded into the use of weapons. One of them pulled out a gun and fired. The bullets hit the 37-year-old Albanian who was standing at another table with his company. He was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately the doctors could not save him.

In the criminal event, 7 people who fought with each other were involved, according to the Greek police, of which 3 of them have been identified so far.

These persons are criminal contingent and names known to the Greek authorities.

They are called "Group L" and it is about a group of Albanians. The Greek press considers those involved in drug trafficking, prostitution, human trafficking, illegal weapons possession, etc. to be "criminals".

This group controls drug trafficking in Athens, has strong ties to the underworld, and controls several areas where prostitution is practiced on the streets of the capital.

One of the Albanians already arrested is a 32-year-old man who a short time ago had held a young girl hostage whom he had tricked into working in a nightclub controlled by their group, and then used her for prostitution. The girl managed to get away and reported to the police.

On October 16, 2022, the Greek police raided the nightclub controlled by the Albanian gang. The investigation was carried out in complete secrecy for fear of uncovering the conspiracy, as the criminal group was also in contact with the police, Greek media reports.

The Greek authorities, in their files, describe this gang as a mafia group that has penetrated at many levels and maintains contacts with even more prisoners in the prisons of Greece.
