The next hearing is expected to take place on December 23, and it is learned that the postponement was made after Zaçaj requested to be informed of the Supreme Court's decision.

The official announcement states that the Court, after evaluating the reasons for this request, decided to accept it, giving it time, as requested, until Monday, 23.12.2024, 10:00, to submit a written opinion.

"For these reasons, as well as to give the body sufficient time to study the opinion in advance, the Court decided to postpone the session to Monday, 23.12.2024, at 13:00," the announcement concludes.

We recall that the Supreme Court insisted that Zaçaj's mandate would end in the spring of 2025 and announced the announcement of the vacancy and the opening of the competition for this position on December 11. The Supreme Court insisted that the public announcement of the competition and in Zaçaj's application itself, which was also made public, mentioned the end of the mandate in March 2025.

For her part, Holta Zaçaj argued that her mandate ends at the end of 2025. She also asked the Venice Commission for its opinion on the method of calculating the duration of the terms of office of a member of the Constitutional Court. Zaçaj insists that her position and the request for interpretation from Venice seek to ensure the inviolability of the mandate of a member of the Constitutional Court.
