The Constitutional Court has decided to suspend the proceedings for the extradition of the Russian citizen Igor Kokunov to Russia, arguing, among other things, that this country is known for inhumane treatment and unjust accusations against the defendants.
The Constitutional Court also says that Russia is no longer part of the Council of Europe, has even denounced the European Convention on Human Rights and has been accused by the European Court of Human Rights of serious violations.
Apparently, the decision has come late as the lawyer of the Russian Kokunov, Isuf Shehu, has stated that his client is currently being extradited to Russia, which contradicts the recently published decision of the Constitutional Court.
Known by the nickname Vasia Bandit, "thief in law", the Russian prosecutor's office says that the 60-year-old from 1993-2019 took the highest position in the criminal hierarchy.
The "thief in law" status, says the Russian Deputy Prosecutor General, is the highest lifelong status in the criminal hierarchy and proves his belonging and undisputed authority in the criminal elite.
The Russians say that Kokunov from 2005-2015 offered criminal patronage of the activity of the joint stock company "FIRST Moscow Watch Factory" with a fee to receive money in almost 1 million rubles.
Then he resolved conflicts with other criminal structures until he took the highest position with these leaders of the criminal world, it is written further in the file that the Russians have sent to Albania.
