Regarding the serious incident where a 12-year-old from Maliqi lost his life in a Tirana hospital, the family members explained to the media, off camera, that their son was healthy and had not had any health problems before, and was also involved in sports activities.
They say that at the end of December, the boy went to the Korça hospital with flu symptoms (vomiting and high fever), where he was treated in intensive care.
Then, yesterday, they urgently took him to Tirana, where he was admitted to the Covid ward, while they requested that he be followed in intensive care.
The family explains that, after the boy began to vomit incessantly, they had communicated this to the nurse, but she had told them that "there was no way."
They point out that the boy was not treated properly, and at one point, he had his chest squeezed tightly.
They had taken him in their arms to take him to the pediatric emergency room, but on the way the boy died in their arms.
Family members say that doctors had informed them that the boy had suffered a cardiac arrest.
They say they are shocked and wonder if it is possible that a virus caused the boy's death, as he did not suffer from diabetes or heart problems.
They also say that over the past few days, the boy's blood sugar level had reached as high as 200.
Regarding the incident, the police are investigating to clarify the circumstances, taking testimony from family members, who have explained that they have not accepted a forensic examination, which would help in fully clarifying the incident.
They demand respect for the pain they are going through and do not want this issue to continue any further.
