The English police have arrested a 26-year-old Albanian, as he is accused of cultivation and trafficking of narcotics. The "boss" Jorgen Bami, who ran a cannabis factory inside a dilapidated building, has been handcuffed.
The Albanian was caught hiding in the brambles outside a building known as the Citadel on Snatchwood Road, in the Abersychan area of Pontypool.
The foreign media call the Albanian a "gangster", while emphasizing that he initially claimed to be a victim of modern slavery and that he was threatened that his family would be killed in his homeland in Albania if he did not cooperate.
During the hearing, Bami stated that he was brought to England by other Albanians and that he owed them 20,000 pounds and that he would work in Liverpool to pay off that debt.
Later, he abandoned this defense and cell phone evidence showed that Bami was called "Boss" and gave criminal advice to others. The cannabis factory was located inside the large white abandoned building, where all the windows were boarded up and the electricity supply was bypassed.
Bami had been in charge of three grow rooms inside the building where there were 274 plants which had a potential yield worth around 150,000 pounds. There was a small kitchen, two bathrooms and a bed.
During the session, Bami admitted the production of cannabis. His lawyer added that the defendant had been a waiter in Albania and wanted to return home as he missed his family.
Jorgen Bami was sentenced to 27 months in prison and has been warned that he may be deported to his homeland after serving his prison sentence.
