A young Albanian man has been sentenced to prison by a court in England after he was caught during an anti-cannabis operation in Durham, in April.
24-year-old Jeton Metollari lived inside the house that was adapted for the cultivation of cannabis, inside which 1000 roots of the narcotic plant were found.
As police entered the apartment, Metollari climbed out of a hole in the wall and surrendered, British authorities said.
He had smuggled large quantities of food, alcohol and other foodstuffs into the house, apparently to ensure a long stay inside.
On his phone, police found videos showing how cannabis is planted and cultivated.
The judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison and said it was up to the Home Office authorities to decide whether he would be deported after prison.
