A police officer was raped on Thursday evening in Saranda, following a conflict that occurred in neighborhood no. 3 of the city.

Mihal Velço, a crime officer at the Saranda Police Station, was riding a motorcycle when he was insulted and then threatened by a group of people.

After the verbal clash, the situation escalated into a physical conflict.

The full circumstances of the incident have not yet been clarified, while preliminary suspicions point to a momentary conflict and not an organized attack on the police officer.

Following the incident, numerous police forces conducted searches at homes, businesses, and various locations in the area. Several people were taken to the police station and questioned.

So far, no people have been arrested or officially identified as suspected perpetrators.

The police are continuing their investigations to fully uncover the incident and document responsibilities.
