Today, Tirana police arrested three people as part of the "Watermark" coded operation, because in cooperation with each other they were securing and bringing to Albania forged documents of foreign citizenships.
Citizens Mariglen Hoti, 35 years old, Shkëlqim Hoxha, 52 years old, and Ilir Hoxha, 34 years old, all three residents of Tirana, were put in handcuffs.
The Police Services located Mariglen Hotin in Kamze and during the document check they found a suspected forged Italian license. The investigation showed that Mariglen Hoti found clients and sold them in Albania against payment.
The operation covers a large number of detections of Albanian citizens who attempted to travel to the United Kingdom via various airports in Germany using forged identification documents.
"On 09.11.2022, an Albanian couple was arrested at Hanover airport who were trying to fly to London using forged Greek documents. The passports contained a mix of double S and crescent watermarks, also containing a readable chip. The arrested citizens are ON and KL, and during the investigation it was established that one of their relatives contacted a counterfeiter in Albania through the 'Tik-Tok' network, the profile "passaporaeurope", it is further stated in the file.
Following the investigations by the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, carried out with special methods of investigation such as simulated purchase, observations, etc., the mechanism was discovered where various citizens ordered forged documents including passports to the citizen Mariglen Hoti and he sent the orders to the laboratory in Kosovo, where the forgeries were carried out.
These documents were then sent to the destination through their associates who camouflaged this illegal activity by transporting passengers from Kosovo to Albania and beyond.
