The prosecution has asked for life imprisonment for Mejit Picari as he is accused of murdering his ex-son-in-law in June 2021, Kudrejt Saliaj.

Meanwhile, for his daughter Dhurata Picari, who is accused of killing Mejit Picari in collaboration with her father, the Prosecutor's Office has requested 35 years in prison.

Earlier, in front of the black squads, Mejit Picari apologized for what he did, he also addressed his grandchildren, while he tried to excuse the girl, saying that he had the pistol himself, he had not given it to her as a gift. The prosecution suspects that Dhurata Saliaj had the gun in her bag and gave it to her father before the murder.

"I apologize for what I did. I apologize to my nephews and nieces. The gift was not known", said Mejit Picari in front of the black squads of Tirana, while adding "I had the pistol in my belt, I did not take it from the girl's bag."

Likewise, the author's daughter said that she did not know what actions the father would take, writes neësbomb.al. Dhurata Saliaj even said that she would never allow her father to kill her husband (with whom she was in the process of divorcing) Kudret Saliaj.

"I didn't know what my father would do. I would never let him kill Kudret. I ask for mercy, I have 3 children to raise", she said.

How the event happened:

Picari's daughter, Dhurata Saliaj, has been in court proceedings with her husband Kudret Saliaj. Today they had their next hearing in the Court of Tirana. Kudret Saliaj's lawyer was former prosecutor Adriatik Cama. All the parties were in a bar near the Court, drinking coffee shortly before the trial started.

The author Mejit Picari was sitting at the table with his daughter, while a few tables further in the same bar, former prosecutor Adriatik Cama was sitting, together with his client Kudret Saliaj, newsbomb.al writes.

It is not known if there was any conflict between the parties before the event. This will be clarified by the witnesses at the scene, together with the former prosecutor and now lawyer Adriatik Cama. The author got up from his desk and went to the place where Kudret Saliaj was, shooting several times with a pistol.

As a result, the son-in-law of Mexhi Picari remained dead on the spot, while a bullet in the chest caught Adriatik Cama. The latter is in the Trauma Hospital and has undergone an operation because the bullet shell is still in his body.

After the shooting, Mejit Picari left the scene in a Hyundai vehicle, but was arrested by the Tirana Police about 50 minutes later.
