President Bajram Begaj participated in the tributes in honor of police officer Enea Mekolli, who lost his life the day before in the line of duty during an operation to arrest a wanted person.
During the tribute ceremony, attended by family members, colleagues and representatives of institutions, the victim's uncle, shocked and outraged by the loss of his relative, addressed President Bajram Begaj in harsh tones, pointing out, according to him, the state's failure to guarantee order and security in the country.
He raised concerns that the operation in which his nephew lost his life was undertaken without sufficient security measures, describing the event as a result of a lack of state responsibility.
"Be a god, you left the country in the hands of criminals. Criminals are ruling every corner of Albania. The police do not dominate, but crime dominates. You sank us, you closed the door on us. You sent him there without taking protective measures," Enea Mekolli's uncle told President Begaj.
The tragic event occurred in the Lozhani area of Maliqi, where police forces had gone to execute an arrest warrant against Violand Braçellari.
