A court hearing was held at the Anti-Corruption and Organized Crime Court for Ardi Veliu's former driver, Sokol Idrizaj , and his family members, 2 daughters Bora and Egi , as well as his wife, Elda Idrizaj .

Accused of the criminal offenses of "Smuggling of other goods", "Trading and transporting contraband goods", "Hiding income" and "Structured criminal group", SPAK has requested that they be sentenced to prison.

Sokol Idrizaj has once again denied all the accusations that have been leveled against him and his family, claiming that the matter has been blown up by the media solely due to the fact that he served for several years as the personal driver of the former director of the State Police, Ardi Veliu.

"Even during communism, an entire family was not put in prison, the media have abused my case, they have smeared me and my family. The clothes brought from France by my daughter have been confirmed by the French state itself that they were not stolen. Even during Enver's time, the prosecutor could not prevail over the judge, I live in a house with a tin roof, while we are accused of hiding income worth millions of lek," Idrizaj declared in court.

Meanwhile, Elda Idrizaj has stated that this trial has destroyed her life and that her family has no connection to any structured criminal group.

"I became a grandmother in prison, we are a regular family. My daughter used to bring clothes to sell online with the intention of providing some extra income. Our lives have been destroyed by this story. What connection do we have with the structured criminal group?"

Sokol Idrizaj's two daughters have also expressed their traumatization by this story and say that their lives are over.

"This story has left me jobless, it has caused us great trauma, I am only 22 years old."

How smuggling worked:

Regarding the first group, it turns out that the persons under investigation, after collecting stolen items in French territory and the monetary amounts resulting from criminal activity, deposited them in a hotel, and handed them over to be illegally transported to Albania.

Regarding the second group, it appears that the persons under investigation, in collaboration with members of the first group, have carried out their criminal activity by transporting large, undeclared amounts of money from Albania to France.

These amounts used to purchase luxury items amount to 724,386 euros, a figure that only pertains to banking transactions, not including the cash amounts that were illegally transported across the state border, amounting to 2,113,000 euros and 35,000 francs.

In addition to these monetary amounts, the persons under investigation have also illegally transported around 3.4 kg of precious items (gold).

The luxury products purchased on French territory by these citizens were transported to Albania by them and their associates through France-Albania transport companies.

These items were then smuggled into Albanian territory, where they were sold to various individuals, while also hiding the income earned from this illegal activity.
