Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj has been officially indicted on charges of corruption, concealment of assets and money laundering, along with his wife, Ajola Xoxa .

A day ago, businessman Elman Abule was also officially charged with money laundering.

Erion Veliaj has been held in detention since February 10 of this year.

He is being investigated along with his wife Ajola Xoxa and 6 businessmen, one of whom, Elman Abule , is being held under house arrest.

The legal team of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj reacted a day ago following information about the arrest of his defendant.

The announcement of the indictment, according to lawyers, will give him the first opportunity to properly review and challenge the charges brought against him and to analyze the prosecution's evidence.
