The dossier is revealed through call center fraud, with 17 people accused of extorting €4.7 million from 1,200 Italians and investing in cryptocurrency.
The criminal group that managed the Call Center in Tirana, defrauded hundreds of Italians for investment in the stock exchange and extorted their money.
In the file leaked by Top Channel, several conversations conducted through call center operators and 'victims' who were prey to fraud. The economic damage was so great that one of them said in the phone call that he was going to kill himself after losing 31,000 euros.
"On November 3, 2020, at 7:07 pm. Stabile speaks to Irina, crying and complains about the investment of 31 thousand euros and has no money left because she risked everything she had and is contemplating suicide. Irina tells them that she must pay a commission for transfers equal to 4,500 euros.
Fabio informs him that he has paid the last 4,000 euros he had for commissions and two transfers. Irina refers that they don't care if it's the last money and that she should pay is another tax that for the bank of England. The call is closed by agreeing to be heard later," the file says.
How did the scam work?
The persons (Italians) were contacted by telephone, were proposed to buy online "Amazon" shares with the untameable promise of winning big and fast sums. The moment the client knew the investment signing, an email was sent containing a link through which they were linked to start purchasing titles.
In this context, the victim downloaded the caller's instructions for the app AnyDesk, effectively allowing the fraudster to access the bank's security codes, allowing him to enter the bank account numbers directly.
The same fraudsters, in order to get more money from "buyers", made the victims believe that to enter into possession of the very large sums acquired through investment, they must pay some kind of tax/commission according to the pre-empted rules set by the European Central Bank, since the Trading Company is located in England, Outside the European Union.
Among other things, the investigation revealed that the criminal group was very careful in order not to be discovered, performing the "AnyDesk" connection on the victims' personal computers, using an Italian server of the provider Aruba, which guaranteed in fact the real hiding of the IP address from where the communication had taken place, making the server the sole "node" for all communications.
