They demand money on behalf of public characters, Rama urges citizens: Do not
Edi Rama's Kryemini

Prime Minister Edi Rama urges citizens to be careful with a phone fraud that is taking place in our country and has harmed several people so far.

Rama says that fraudsters mimic the phone numbers of public figures and on their behalf demand sums of money. He says citizens must verify the sender's authenticity to avoid this criminal game.

It remains unclear whether Rama refers to those cases when well-known businessmen in the country have fallen prey to fraud by people who claimed to be senior politicians and asked them for large sums of money, or it is a new scheme.

"A fraudulent game with computers that mimic phone numbers to send fake messages has harmed some people to date. The State Police have stopped and brought to justice some of these fraudsters, who managed to get money from the injured. But while the police continue their work to identify others, I suggest to anyone who receives messages on behalf of public persons, to check the authenticity of the sender in advance, to avoid the trap of this criminal game," Rama writes.
