A 38-year-old man, identified as Vitrin Çobaj, was put in police custody after he threatened a married couple in Selenica with a gun and isolated the children in a room after entering the apartment to steal.

"Thanks to quick and professional actions, the event that happened yesterday, in the village of Brataj, Selenica, was clarified and documented in record time. He held hostage for several hours, under the threat of a gun, the members of a family, in their apartment. and a sum of money was violently stolen from him, the suspected perpetrator is put in handcuffs. A shotgun, a sum of money and the clothes that the perpetrator is suspected to have used during the commission of the crime are seized.

The services of the Selenica Police Station, after receiving the notification that in the village of Brataj, in a residence, a sum of money had been violently stolen and the family living there had been threatened, immediately organized the work in order to identify and bring the perpetrator to legal responsibility.

Following the intensive investigative actions, based on the collected evidence and the information received during the operation, the coded police operation "Brataj" was organized and finalized. As part of this operation, the suspected perpetrator of the incident, citizen V. Ç, 38 years old, resident of Vajzë village, Vlorë, with a previous criminal record in the field of theft, was caught and arrested.

During the investigative actions, it was found that this citizen, on 16.07.2022, in the early hours of the morning, in the place called "Koria e Rigoni", in the village of Brataj, forcibly entered the apartment of the citizen YF, 41 years old, who lived together with her husband, FF citizen, 47 years old (disabled) and 6 minor children. Under the threat of a gun, it is suspected that the 38-year-old held the family members of this family hostage for about 4 hours, tying the two spouses with ropes and isolating the minor children in a room. During the time that this citizen stayed in the apartment, it is suspected that he sexually harassed the citizen YF and her three minor daughters, as well as forcibly stole the amount of 36,900 ALL from them. A shotgun was seized as material evidence, a sum of money and clothing which the perpetrator is suspected to have used during the commission of the crime. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Vlora, for further actions.
