Believers celebrate Christmas, messages of peace and love

Christian believers in Albania celebrate Christmas today, one of the most important holidays of their faith. Hundreds of Catholic believers gathered at midnight at St. Paul's Cathedral in Tirana for the traditional Christmas mass, while for Orthodox believers, it takes place on the morning of December 25 at the Resurrection of Christ Cathedral.

Christmas is one of the most important holidays of Christianity and is celebrated every year on December 25 by the majority of Christians around the world. This holiday commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem, a fundamental event in Christian doctrine, which marks the coming of the Son of God into the world for the salvation of humanity.

According to the Gospels, Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, in simple circumstances, in a stable, and was visited by shepherds and then by wise men from the East. This birth symbolizes humility, peace, and divine love, showing that God approached people not with power and grandeur, but with simplicity and mercy.

Christmas is of fundamental importance because it is directly linked to the mystery of the Incarnation, that is, to the belief that God became man in the person of Jesus Christ. This act constitutes the basis of the Christian faith, since without the Incarnation there would be no salvation, crucifixion, and resurrection. Christmas marks the beginning of Christ's earthly mission and reinforces the idea of hope and spiritual rebirth.

The symbols of Christmas are numerous and familiar: the Christmas tree, the lights, the star, the manger, as well as the figures of Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus. They represent light that overcomes darkness, life, hope and family unity. For many believers, this holiday is also a time of reflection, prayer and solidarity with the poor and those in need.

Christmas also has a social and cultural significance, as it promotes universal values such as love, peace, forgiveness and humanity. It remains a holiday that unites people, despite their differences, around the message of kindness and hope.
