The naval base of Saranda will remain under sequestration. Today the Supreme Court overturned the recourse of the company "Marina Bay Saranda" (which is owned by the oligarch Shefqet Kastrati) to annul the sequestration imposed by the Special Court of First Instance Against Crime and Corruption.

The naval base of Saranda was seized by decision of GJKKO in February of this year, following the request of SPAK on the grounds that the privatization of the base had affected the operationality of the naval forces.

The concessionaire company initially appealed the decision to the Special Court of Appeal, but the Appeal upheld the decision of the first instance. On May 16, the company appealed the decision again, this time to the Supreme Court. But this court has also decided to leave the naval base in sequestration.

On July 1, 2020, the Ministry of Finance signed with the company Marina Bay Saranda a lease contract worth 1 euro for the provision of 265 thousand meters of public land in Limion Bay, in Saranda. According to the project, the companies would build there a yacht port as well as a tourist resort with villas, hotels and apartments.

But within the surface of 265 thousand meters, there are also 40 thousand meters of land, part of the naval base of Saranda, which is owned by the Navy. For this reason, the contract was reported to the SPAK by the former commander of the Fleet, Artur Meçollari, who claims that the privatization of the Fleet's property was done in violation of the law and undermines the defense capacities of the country.

Meanwhile, during this time, the SPAK minister Olta Xhaçka, as well as senior officials of the armed forces, including the former Chief of Staff, Bardhyl Kollçaku, were called several times to SPAK.
