The Special College of Appeal heard the Public Commissioner's conclusions this Monday about the request to overturn the decision of the Independent Qualification Commission, which left Vlora Appellate Judge Rilinda Selimi in office.
According to the Public Commissioner, a considerable amount of money and property on behalf of the judge's father-in-law cannot be justified with his income. The amount that is not justified by that father-in-law's income is about 100,000 euros, which have been used for investing in a gas station in Vlora and 10,000 euros saved by the judge and her husband.
Rilinda Selimi is the wife of former Supreme Court Justice Selzen Selimi. The latter was dismissed for questionable ties and non-justification of wealth. However, Justice Selimi defended himself by stating that the father-in-law could not be involved as a related person, stating that he was not living with her husband, but with his other son.
Supreme Court Justice Selzen Selimi was dismissed on July 30, 2018, after being found with links to organised crime.
The International Monitoring Mission, which is assisting Albania in the process of assisting The Oblast, intervened in the process by providing information obtained from foreign intelligence services under which the judge illegally influenced the non-extradition in 2015 to Italy of citizens Of the Albanian Isufaj, who has been convicted in the neighbouring country of international trafficking of narcotics.
According to the ONM in 2010-2012, the subject used a car on behalf of A.Sh citizens, who is also the driver of The Isufajt – also known as Ben Qimja. The subject, according to KPK, has had inappropriate contact with Isufajn, named as a member of organised crime.
Even the Directorate of Classified Information Security, the Albanian institution that processes secret state data, reported to the Commission a long list of data showing the judge's links to the crime.
