The ceremony of declaring Anri Kashik "Martyr of the Motherland" was held at the Prime Minister's Office, after he lost his life on the beach of Durrës in an attempt to save his brother and his brother's friend.
During his speech, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Anri became a hero not only of his brother, but of all Albanians. Rama was moved when he said that Anri wanted to become a famous football player, but very quickly found himself in a field between life and death.
He told me that they were supposed to meet, he had promised that they would meet, but he brought them so that he could not meet the boy but return to Albania to say his last goodbye. The government has pledged to protect the children of the fallen everywhere in Albania, but in this case Anri himself was a child and, like other heroes of these days, he also became a symbol of extreme selflessness to fulfill a mission that some like to the doctors who lost their lives during the pandemic, the road brings them, to some others it simply brings a wrong moment that no one has in their hands but in that wrong moment we heroically do the right thing", Rama said.
Present at the ceremony of granting the status of 'Martyr of the Fatherland' to Anri Kashik, with great pain for the loss of his son, his father saw that this status made Anri not to be forgotten in the entire Albanian nation.
"What happened to me, I hope it doesn't happen to anyone, is a loss. I have no words. I thank you, for what the government did, it made Anri not to be forgotten in the entire Albanian family and the Albanian nation ," he said.
