The scandal of the sinking of the buildings in the "Durrës Marina" project is deepening every day. After the publication of the investigation by the show "Piranjat", the IKMT was also put into action, officially confirming that the first two completed buildings have suffered a decrease of up to 28 centimeters.

However, unlike the state institution's report, the project's subcontractor and design engineer downplay the problem, stating that the subsidence is "normal" and that the figures published by IKMT are incorrect.

According to the constructor Dhimitër Papa, the problem was created by the way the project was implemented, the digging of holes around the buildings and the change in the piling methodology during the works. He stated that the company had requested the replacement of concrete piles with ballast piles, while admitting that the subsidence of the buildings was greater than that foreseen in the project.

Meanwhile, the Construction Institute clarifies that monitoring was done according to technical procedures, through reference points and zero quotas of the project, which is disputed by the constructor and subcontractor.

Public accountability also remains at the center of the debate, as the Durrës Port Authority owns 33% of the capital of “Durrës Marina.” The Director of the APD, Liburn Aliu, avoided direct answers to questions about the scandal, requesting that questions be sent to him in writing.

Likewise, the administrator of "Durrës Marina", Elisabeta Hajrullai, refused to provide explanations to the public and left the company's premises without comment.

The investigation raises serious questions about the safety of the facilities, the manner in which the project was implemented, and the responsibility of the institutions and companies involved in one of the largest and most controversial projects in the country./ Piranjat News
