6 climbers dead, 20 missing, the moment the glacier collapsed in Italy (video)

A video published by the BBC shows the moment of the collapse of the Marmolada glacier, in the northern Italian Alps.

6 climbers died, 9 were injured and 20 are missing.

Firefighters searched the collapse area in Marmolada throughout the night with drones, and soon the Trentino Alpine Rescue drones will also be up.

Meanwhile, two groups of family members of the victims and the missing have arrived in Canazei, which have increased in number: in fact, there are three or four more than the 16 communicated yesterday.

At the moment there are 6 confirmed victims: three Italians and one Czechoslovak. A man and a woman are still unidentified, but the number is likely to get worse.

Weather conditions will be decisive for the assessment of the direct intervention of rescuers: cold and low temperatures are essential to guarantee a minimum of safety for operations, given that a large amount of unsafe ice remains on the mountain.
