The Special Prosecution Office has issued final conclusions for citizens Ilir Nishanin, Genci Hicka and Gerson Tafa who are suspected of accepting bribes in their capacity as inspectors of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Prosecutor Behar Dibra requested a 2-year prison sentence for Ilir Nishanin, Genci Hicka and Gerson Tafa. The sentence should be converted into probation for a period of 3 years, as well as the application of "removal of the right to exercise public functions" for 3 years.
According to SPAK investigations, in 2020, these individuals received bribes worth 30 thousand lek from two doctors, Konstandin Balloma and Besim Boçi, in order to avoid being fined for treating hospital waste.
The prosecution's investigation into the environmental officials began after the two doctors filed a complaint. The case against them was dismissed by SPAK due to the amnesty, despite the fact that proceedings were registered against them for the criminal offense of "active corruption".
