The President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, received this morning the US Charge d'Affaires, Nancy VanHorn.

The reason for the meeting between the two officials is still unknown.

This meeting comes a day after the US government shutdown. Earlier, the US embassy in Tirana announced that due to the lack of an agreement on the approval of the federal budget, its activities on social networks will be significantly limited.

In a post on the official Facebook page, the Embassy explained that “ Due to the delay in approving budget funds, this Facebook account will not be updated regularly – with the exception of urgent information on security issues – until regular activity resumes .”

Likewise, there is the possibility of discussions regarding partial local elections in Albania for the six municipalities.

Meanwhile, further information is awaited regarding what the two officials discussed.
