Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is expected to formalize his resignation this evening in a well-thought-out move that aims to enable him to transition to the post of prime minister.

In a post this Sunday, Vučić said it had been the greatest honor to be President of Serbia.

"I tried to do my best every day, to justify the trust placed in me and to serve my country with loyalty and honesty. Long live Serbia ," Vučić wrote on his Instagram account.

When asked what he would like to be remembered for in the Presidency of Serbia, Vučić replied that he would like to be remembered for his dedication and diligence.

"You will remember these years and these days as the time of the greatest progress and greatest successes of Serbia," said Vučić.

Serbs are expected to head to the polls on October 25th, in snap elections with which Vucic hopes to strengthen his position after large anti-government protests.
