Sadio Mane has officially transferred from Liverpool to Bayern today. The Senegalese national team player has signed a three-year contract with the Munich club and become one of the highest paid players in the Bundesliga.
The media write that his annual salary will be around 13 million euros.
But what does he do with this "sack money"?
He spends them not like many football stars, in a life of luxury and whims. Mane is from Bambali, a poor village of several thousand inhabitants, to which he contributes to live as well as he can.
He has built a primary school for 250 thousand euros and with almost 550 thousand euros has financed the construction of a hospital together with the equipment.
Because of it, locals have 4G internet access, have a post office and a gas station. He gives 70 euros per month to each family, which is not a small amount by local standards, while he has provided free clothes for the children.
All this is an expression of his faith as a Muslim. He has even expressed his sports creed, which is based on as a way to do good, to come to the aid of others.
Mane was brought by Europe to Metz when he was 19 years old.
A year later, he was sold to Salzburg for 4 million euros and there he scored 45 goals in 87 games with 32 assists.
In the summer of 2014, he went to Southampton for 23 million euros, who then sold him to Liverpool in 2016 for 42 million euros.
According to British media, Bayern paid 40 million euros for the striker, while will pay the player 13 million euros per season.
Mane has played 269 games with Liverpool, scoring 120 goals. With the English team he won the champion title in 2020 and the Champions League in 2019. With Senegal he has scored 31 goals in 89 games.
