Achraf Hakim

Achraf Hakimi has been formally charged with rape after prosecutors opened an investigation last weekend into the alleged sexual assault of a 23-year-old woman in Paris.

The girl's testimony was based on the PSG player allegedly abusing her on the night of February 25 at his home. Even though the "victim" did not want to file a complaint, it was the authorities who exercised their duty, started the investigation primarily, with initiative.

Achraf Hakimi, who appeared seemingly calm last Monday at the "The Best FIFA" awards gala, has this morning returned to training with PSG, after overcoming muscle discomfort in recent days.

The club is offering the first 15 minutes of training open to the media and the defender could be seen on the pitch with the rest of his team-mates when news of the investigation broke.

At the moment, the club has not reacted. The accused footballer's lawyer, Fanny Colin, said earlier this week that his client was innocent and that the 23-year-old girl's accusations are false.
