A great loss for football, the record holder of the World Cup passes away

World football mourns Just Fontaine, who passed away at the age of 89.

The Frenchman held the record for goals scored in a World Cup, 13 in 1958.

He also holds the record with 4 goals scored during the World Cup, scoring against West Germany.

Fontaine spent his career mainly with Nice and Reims in France, remaining active until 1962.

It was with Reims that he lost a Champions Cup final against Real Madrid, but won the title of top scorer in that competition.

He tried his hand at coaching by leading the French national team, then managed in the ranks of clubs such as Toulouse and Paris Saint-Germain.

The last experience on the bench belongs to the two-year period 1979-1981, when he was coach of Morocco.
