FIFA has responded in a very unusual way and has been described by some media as arrogant and biased to the accusations about the refereeing in the match between Portugal and Ghana.
Allegations were made for the incident of the penalty awarded to Ronaldo in the 65th minute. The penalty was converted into a goal by Cristiano Ronaldo.
But, after repeating the episode and analyzing it, many experts and sports media assessed that the penalty was excessive and more than the foul of the Ghanaian defender on Ronaldo, it was the Portuguese who requested the contact.
Staying in touch, FIFA's technical group, which trains VAR referees, responded to these criticisms by saying that Ronaldo is a genius.
'People can say what they want about Ronaldo's penalty and about him. But it is smart to wait and find the right moment for that split second and make contact with the opponent. This is total genius', said the FIFA statement.
