"It wasn't an easy decision...", Arnold announces departure from
Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold has announced his departure from Liverpool at the end of this season, when his contract expires.

It was the player himself who announced the decision, saying that after 20 years as part of the Reds, he thinks he needs something new.

"First of all I want to say that this has not been an easy decision. I have thought a lot. I have been here for 20 years. I have loved every minute here. I have achieved all the good dreams and I have achieved what I dreamed of. After giving everything for 20 years, I think I have reached a point where I need a change. I need a new challenge for myself, as a player and as a person. I think now is the right time to do that," Arnold said.

The Englishman has also decided which team he will continue his career with. Arnold has long since reached an agreement to transfer to Real Madrid as a free agent.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the parties have reached an agreement for a 5-year contract, which will be signed as soon as he ends his Liverpool adventure.

The 26-year-old will be trying out his first adventure outside of England, having been part of Liverpool since childhood, progressing from the academy to the first team in 2016.

He has made 352 appearances for the Reds, scoring 23 goals and lifting eight trophies, including this season's Premier League title.
