From the football field to politics. Former national team captain, Mërgim Mavraj, will be a candidate for deputy in the Kosovo Parliament.
He will participate in the national elections on February 9. The 38-year-old will represent the political entity "Lista për Familjen", which is led by two former deputies of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Visar Korenica and Eman Rrahmani.
It was the latter who made the news about the former defender's candidacy official, while an official announcement from Mërgim Mavraj himself is also awaited.
The former red and black captain joined the Albanian National Team in 2012 and announced his retirement from the team in August 2020, after 8 years during which he recorded 50 international matches, while also playing in the 2016 European Championship in France.
