Ruben Amorim is the new coach of Manchester United. The news has been confirmed by the English club itself, which has clarified that the current coach of Sporting Lisbon will sign a contract until 2027, with the possibility of an additional year depending on the results achieved.
The Portuguese coach, 39, replaces the departed Erik ten Hag and will join the squad on November 11. Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to manage the team until the arrival of the new coach.
Manchester United "are pleased to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Men's First Team Coach, subject to work visa requirements. He will be in charge until June 2027 with a club option for an additional year after fulfilling his obligations to his current club. He will join Manchester United on Monday 11 November," read the Red Devils' statement.
"Ruben Amorim is one of the most enthusiastic and respected coaches in European football. With an illustrious career as a player and coach, his titles include winning the Portuguese Primeira Liga twice with Sporting Lisbon; the first of which was the club's first title in 19 years.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to manage the team until Ruben joins us," United added.
