Lara Colturi was announced today as the world champion for young women in skiing, in the World Cup that is taking place in Austria, giving Albania a title that until a short time ago would have been unbelievable.
The girl of Italian origin expressed all her enthusiasm after the triumph.
"I am satisfied with what I have done during these two days and I am here for Albania. It was a family decision. We decided that I would represent Albania, so that I would always have my mom and dad with me in my competitions. Mom and dad helped me with advice about the race and the specifics of the track and congratulated me on the victory."
Meanwhile, the president of the Albanian Ski Federation, Elvis Toci, does not hide his joy. "Unbelievable emotion, it gave us an unimaginable pleasure, Lara raised our flag here in Austria", he said.
The world title came as a confirmation of the incredible potential possessed by the daughter of Italy's Olympic champion, Daniela Ceçarelli.
On the first day of the competition, Lara Colturi was declared world champion for ages up to 18 in "Down Hill", while in the second competition she took first place in the general classification.
The talented skier will also compete in the "giant" race on January 21 and then appear in Kronplatz, for the next stop in the World Cup.
There, on January 24 and 25, she will participate in two competitions, where she will consolidate positions in the Top 30 of this discipline in the World Cup.
