Ireland U21s are back in action after a bitterly disappointing end to their European Championship qualifying campaign.
Among the names on Jim Craëford's squad announced on Thursday afternoon is Kevin Zefi.
Zefi has been highly regarded in Irish football circles since his protracted transfer saga which eventually saw him sign for Inter from Shamrock Rovers in 2021.
Zefi has since moved to Serie A rivals Roma, where he has impressed for the U20 side in recent weeks. However, earlier this year it appeared that he was considering a move at international level.
Having played for Ireland at U15, U17, U18 and U19 levels, Zefi was earlier this year linked with a move to represent Albania at U21 level.
The 19-year-old is of Albanian origin and the media hinted that a call-up for Zefi was inevitable ahead of the June international transfer.
However, Jim Craëford appears to have allayed any fears of a change by handing Zefi his first Ireland call-up at U21 level ahead of next year's qualifying campaign.
Zefi's last appearance in green came for the U19s last March. Fans will be hoping to see him in the line for Ireland U21s in next week's games against Sweden.
