Inter gets new owners

Inter Milan have new owners. The club is officially under Canadian ownership, following the full purchase of the American fund "Oaktree Capital Management" by the investment company Brookfield.

The deal has been confirmed and includes 100 percent of Oaktree's shares, in a transaction worth around €3 billion. With this transaction, Brookfield becomes the new direct owner of Oaktree, and consequently also controls the Italian club Inter, which Oaktree had taken over in May 2024.

The ownership change is part of a process that has been underway for several years. Brookfield bought a majority stake in Oaktree six years ago and now owns the entire fund, which is valued at around $11.5 billion. As a result, the current change is more of a corporate reorganization than a direct change in the ownership structure of the Italian club.

Inter went into Oaktree administration last spring, when the financial company took control of the club following a loan default by former Chinese owners Suning.

Oaktree subsequently appointed Beppe Marotta as club president, maintaining the existing management structure in its entirety. Brookfield has announced that it does not foresee any changes to Inter's sporting or administrative management, maintaining continuity in direction and strategy.
