Erkand Qerimaj
Erkand Qerimaj follows his fantastic moment. After the success in the European Championship, where he secured a gold medal, the red and black weightlifter repeats himself in the Mediterranean Games. In the weight of 73 kg, Qerimaj gave Albania a medal in the breakaway style.
Qerimaj started the competition with a weight of 148 kg, a test which he failed to pass successfully. Qerimaj tried immediately, again with the same weight, 148 kg, but was unable to hold the barbell high.
The Shkodran weightlifter tried in the third test with 149 kg, a weight which he managed to keep up, but at first the body of judges considered it irregular, which brought tension and protests from Qerimaj and the entire Albanian delegation.
After verification, Qerimaj's test was considered regular, a weight that gave Qerimaj a silver medal in the breakaway style.
