Paul Pogba is starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The Lausanne Court of Arbitration for Sport has reduced Paul Pogba's doping sentence to 18 months. This means that the Frenchman will be able to return to the field at the beginning of 2025. The Juventus midfielder was disqualified for 4 years on February 29 by the National Anti-Doping Court, after a positive test for Dhea in August 2023.
As reported by Mail Sport, the French born in 1993 will be able to return to training with the whites in January and will be able to line up again in official matches starting in March.
According to the British tabloid, the CAS decision confirmed that Pogba had inadvertently taken Dhea, a substance capable of increasing testosterone and present on the list of those prohibited by Wada. However, it has also been acknowledged that Dhea has a performance-enhancing effect only in women.
The new scenario
The midfielder was finally suspended last March 11: Juventus, with whom he has a contract until June 30, 2026, placed him on the minimum wage (around 2,000 euros per month) to give him the opportunity to clarify his position. The reduction of the disqualification, unlike the first decision, will reactivate the super contract that the player had signed in the summer of 2022: 8 million net per year plus 2 million bonuses under the growth decree regime, 12 and a half million gross. At this point the club will again have to balance the final year of the contract and the final months of this season, starting on March 11, 2025.
Will he return to the field with Juve?
Now it is up to the club, which is waiting for the official decision, to choose the best way: to bring him back to the team and entrust him to Thiago Motta, after a long period of inactivity, or to start negotiations for the termination of the contract, with the disbursement of a severance payment (also provided for by the budget provisions). Meanwhile, the Frenchman appears on social networks wearing his field uniform.
