Atletico Madrid humiliates Real with a super Alvarez

Atletico Madrid ended Real Madrid's excellent run this season, convincingly triumphing 5-2 in a spectacular derby at the Estadio Metropolitano.

It was the first defeat for Xabi Alonso's team after seven consecutive victories in all competitions.

The match started furiously with the home team dominating Real in the first 20 minutes. Robin Le Normand put Atletico ahead with a header from a precise cross from Giuliano Simeone. However, the Madrid team reacted quickly. A masterful pass from Arda Güler to Kylian Mbappé brought the equalizer, and just a few minutes later, Güler turned things around by scoring from an assist from Vinicius Junior.

When Real were expected to be in control of the game, Alexander Sorloth scored late in the first half to tie the game at 2-2. The second half started much like the first – with Atletico scoring. A foul by Güler on Nico Gonzalez was converted into a penalty, which Julian Alvarez converted.

The home side didn't stop there. Alvarez scored again from a perfect free kick, while Antoine Griezmann sealed the 5-2 victory after a quick counterattack. Real Madrid were unable to react, and despite the defeat, they still remain top of La Liga.

This magnificent victory is expected to give new life to Atletico after a shaky start to the season, while Real will look to immediately return to winning ways after the embarrassing defeat.
